Spartans Drop League Opener to San Marino

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ water polo team lost at San Marino 18-4 in a Rio Hondo League game on Sept. 28.
Senior Ian Wipfli tallied two goals while senior Connor Weightman and junior Tait Landswick each scored once.
The Spartans lost to visiting South Pasadena 9-6 in their league opener on Sept. 26
Wipfli led the team with four goals while junior Alexander Abramian and Weightman each added one goal.
LCHS (6-10 overall, 0-2 in league) will visit Monrovia on Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. before hosting Blair High of Pasadena on Oct. 10.

The Wolves defeated visiting La Salle College Preparatory 21-13 in a Prep League showdown on Sept. 29.
Carter Morrell racked up six goals, while Ridley Tolleson contributed five goals. Kai Timbadia recorded three goals, Carson Ho and Charlie Simonian each scored two goals, and Elliot Oakes, Advait Kartik and Nicho Dermovsesian each added one goal. Aram Kedeshian finished with six saves, while Oliver Andrews had two saves.
Flintridge Prep lost to visiting Polytechnic 19-4 in a league game on Sept. 27.
Tolleson chipped in two goals, while Ho and Morrell each tallied one goal. Andrews produced seven saves, while Kedeshian registered four saves.
The Wolves (7-10, 1-1) will visit Palos Verdes Chadwick for a league game on Oct. 6 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Crespi High in Encino on Oct. 11.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights competed in the El Segundo Tournament on Sept. 29 and 30, finishing with a 1-3 record. SFHS defeated Palos Verdes Chadwick 15-5 in its tournament finale but suffered losses against South High, 13-8; Brentwood School of Los Angeles, 16-9; and La Costa, 17-4.
St. Francis also suffered a 24-2 Mission League loss at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Sept. 27. Individual statistics were not reported by the SFHS coaching staff.
The Golden Knights (4-12, 0-3) will visit Eagle Rock High in Los Angeles for a nonleague game on Oct. 6 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Muir High in Pasadena on Oct. 13.
