Sheriff’s Crime Report

A residential burglary was reported in the 4900 block of Vero Road between Oct. 17 at 9:30 a.m. and Oct. 19 at 5:30 p.m. The victim told the deputy that he left his residence for a business trip on Oct. 17 and when he returned on Oct. 19, he noticed his bedroom was ransacked. Upon further investigation, he also noticed other rooms that were ransacked within his residence. The rear sliding glass door was shattered. The deputy observed what the victim noticed and took photos. Based on the deputy’s observation, it appeared that the entry and exit point to the residence was made through the rear glass door. Various denominations of money were stolen from the nightstand in the son of the victim’s bedroom. The video surveillance cameras on the property do not record video footage, according to the victim.

A residential burglary was reported in the 3800 block of Domal Lane on Oct. 21 between 5:14 a.m. and 6 a.m. A realtor for the victim’s house was contacted by deputies and he provided the information to authorities while the victim was out of the country at the time. After the victim received an alert on her phone from the security company about her residence, her bother and his wife immediately went to check the house. Upon their arrival, they noticed that the kitchen window that connected to the pool area was smashed. The windows were double-layered windows and the inner kitchen window, made of tempered glass, did not shatter, but sustained minor scratches. After further investigation, the deputies thought it looked like the suspect had thrown a rock at the kitchen window in an attempt to gain entry, but it only broke the outer window glass. The brother and sister called the realtor for help and together, they found the garage door window smashed, as well as wires cut from the driveway gate control box and the call box speaker. The realtor told the deputies that she didn’t know if anything was stolen.

An identity theft incident occurred in the 1100 block of Green Lane on Oct. 14 between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The victim told the deputy that he checked his phone to notice that he updated his current phone to an iPhone 15 and added two additional lines along with two additional iPhone purchases. The suspect had purchased the phone and not the victim. An employee contacted him later that day and left a voicemail to say that he was not present at the curbside pick-up time. The victim then contacted the store and said that he never ordered anything from them. The representative said that someone may have used his account and ordered one electric bicycle and one Apple Watch. The victim then contacted the credit bureau companies and told them about the incident. He was told an investigation could be conducted but was also advised to contact the police and get a police report. The victim told the deputy that he did not give anyone permission to use his identity.
