Spartans, Wolves Make Playoff Appearances

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ water polo team lost at South Pasadena 14-9 in its regular season and Rio Hondo League finale on Oct. 25.
Junior Beckett Chung registered five saves and one steal, while senior lan Wipfli racked up five goals and two steals. Junior Alexander Abramian finished with two goals and one steal, freshman Liam Applegate tallied three steals and one goal, and senior Connor Weightman scored one goal. Junior Tait Landswick recorded five steals, while senior Jacob Goldsworthy, sophomore Max Hong and freshman Arshan Soltanzadeh each had one steal.
The Spartans routed visiting Monrovia 21-3 in a league matchup on Oct. 24, as Goldsworthy racked up five goals and two steals.
Landswick and Wipfli each recorded four steals and three goals, while Hong finished with three goals and one steal. Weightman and Applegate each chipped in two goals and two steals, Soltanzadeh tallied four steals and one goal, and freshman Landon Karlich and Abramian each registered two steals and one goal.
The Spartans, which finished the regular season fourth in league with a 2-6 record (11-15 overall), opened the CIF Southern Section Division IV playoffs at Malibu on Oct. 31. La Cañada fell 12-7 in their first-round matchup; more details will be included in next week’s Outlook Valley Sun issue.

The Wolves edged visiting Palos Verdes Chadwick 12-11 in their Prep League and regular-season finale on Oct. 24.
Oliver Andrews recorded seven saves, while Aram Kedeshian tallied two saves. Carter Morrell finished with five goals, while Charlie Simonian scored four goals. Ridley Tolleson contributed two goals, while Carson Ho had one goal.
Flintridge Prep, which finished the regular season second in league with a 6-2 record (14-15 overall), opened the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs by hosting Etiwanda (18-10) on Oct. 31. The Wolves lost to the visitors 19-9; more details will be included in next week’s issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.
