LCHS Tennis Player Raises Funds for CHLA

La Cañada High School student Lilly Chamras is organizing a tennis tournament to be held in the afternoon on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the LCF Country Club to raise money for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Her original goal was $2,000 and, with her funding already having reached 94% of her goal, she may have a chance to far exceed her initial amount.
“As many of you know, I have great passion for tennis and have been playing on the LCHS varsity tennis team for several years,” Chamras said in a fundraising appeal letter. “In addition, I have also been participating in national tournaments with USTA. As the singles No. 1 player on the LCHS varsity team, I have learned great responsibility towards my team and have been practicing leadership skills. Last year, I was awarded the year’s most-improved player.
“This year I am combining my passion for tennis with community service. Help support my fundraising efforts with a donation to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles or make a donation of $50 to sign up to play. Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of many young patients and their families. Any amount, great or small, will be greatly appreciated and will help us create hope and build healthier futures for the families of Southern California and beyond.”
The Dec. 3 tournament, which will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and is geared for players under age 17, has a registration fee of $50. It includes refreshments and prizes.
The efforts of coach Stan Carter and the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club were widely appreciated, Chamras said.
