Hosford, Ayoub Steer La Cañada Past Temple City

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ soccer team shut out host Temple City 2-0 in its Rio Hondo League opener on Dec. 13.
Samantha Hosford and Mathilde Ayoub each scored one goal, while Samantha Neumeier was credited with a pair of assists.
The Spartans narrowly lost at South Pasadena 2-1 in a league match on Dec. 15. Ayoub tallied the lone goal, while Julia Sada earned an assist on the play.
LCHS (8-2 overall, 1-1 in league) will host Mayfield Senior of Pasadena for a nonleague match on Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. before resuming league play at San Marino on Jan. 17.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves edged Louisville High of Woodland Hills in overtime 4-3 in their Best in the West Tournament finale on Dec. 16.
Junior Valentina Mancilla, sophomore Juliet Oberley and freshman Avery McCormack each scored one goal, while senior Stella Smit, junior Dagny Marion and freshman Elyse Mauer were each credited with an assist.
Flintridge Prep routed Valley Christian High of Cerritos 5-1 in a Best in the West Tournament game on Dec. 16.
Mancilla and McCormack each registered two goals and one assist, senior captain Zaria Echemendia finished with one goal and one assist, and Mauer had one assist.
The Wolves blanked host Grace High in Simi Valley 8-0 in a nonleague match on Dec. 15 as McCormack recorded her second hat trick in as many games.
Echemendia and Marion each tallied one goal and one assist, junior Celeste Davila, Mauer and Oberley each scored one goal, and sophomore Lauren Bradford produced a pair of assists.
Flintridge Prep routed host Westridge School in Pasadena 6-1 in its Prep League opener on Dec. 12 as McCormack recorded a hat trick.
Echemendia and Marion each tallied two assists and one goal, Mancilla scored one goal, and freshman Amelia Ralph and Smit were each credited with one assist.
The Wolves (6-1, 1-0) will compete in the SoCal Classic Elite from Dec. 27 to 29 before visiting Granada Hills Charter for a nonleague contest on Jan. 3. Flintridge Prep will resume league play by hosting Mayfield Senior of Pasadena on Jan. 10.

The Tologs have been away from the pitch since losing at La Cañada in a nonleague match on Dec. 7.
FSHA (2-2-1 overall) will compete in the Pirate Cup Tournament from Dec. 27 to 30 before opening Mission League action against visiting Sierra Canyon High of Chatsworth on Jan. 3.
