La Cañada Falls Short Against South Pasadena

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost at South Pasadena 65-61 in a Rio Hondo League game on Jan. 24.
Senior Jack Reynolds poured in 19 points with seven assists and one rebound, junior Josh Pastor registered 17 points, two steals, two rebounds and one assist, and junior Josh Proctor posted a double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one block and one assist. Senior Anders Petersen recorded six points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists, junior Maddox Freeman tallied five points and two rebounds, and senior Matthew Plocher finished with four rebounds, one block and one assist.
The Spartans secured a 74-41 league victory over visiting Monrovia on Jan. 26.
Reynolds racked up 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal, while Petersen posted a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and one block. Senior Spencer Moravec registered nine points, two assists, one steal and one rebound, Freeman chipped in six points and five rebounds, and senior Dhilon Gupta recorded five points, three assists, one steal, one block and one assist. Senior Shervin Naini finished with four points, two rebounds and two assists, senior Matthew Herrick contributed four points and two rebounds, and senior Conor Banks produced four points and one assist. Senior Jensen Karlich tallied three rebounds, one point and one assist, Plocher collected three rebounds, two steals and one assist, and senior Jaidon Gupta was credited with two assists.
La Cañada lost to visiting El Camino Real High of Woodland Hills 59-44 in a nonleague game on Jan. 27.
Plocher finished with 14 points, six rebounds, five steals and five assists, while Reynolds tallied 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal. Freeman recorded six points, two rebounds and one block, while junior Saad Bangash contributed six points and two rebounds. Petersen registered five assists, four rebounds, two points and two steals, junior Julian Morillo chipped in two points and one rebound, and junior Diyon Silva and Moravec each scored two points. Dhilon Gupta contributed two rebounds, while Jaidon Gupta had one assist.
The Spartans (15-11 overall, 7-1 in league) will visit San Marino for their regular-season finale on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. The CIF Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Feb. 4 at noon. La Cañada will be competing in Division II-A.

St Francis High School senior Ethan Childs finished with six assists and four points to help the Golden Knights beat Loyola High in a Mission League game on Jan 24

The Golden Knights secured a 54-44 Mission League victory at Loyola High in Los Angeles on Jan. 24, marking the first win on their rival school’s home court since 2018.
Junior Mazi Mosley poured in 17 points with three rebounds and three assists, while sophomore Delan Grant registered 10 points, four rebounds and one assist. Junior Dyllen Domingo tallied eight points, three assists, two steals and one rebound, while junior Noah Henry recorded eight points and two assists. Senior Ethan Childs finished with six assists, four points, three rebounds, one block and one steal, senior Chris Kalachian contributed four rebounds, three points and two steals, and senior Kennedy Mitchell-egbo chipped in four points, three rebounds and one block.
St. Francis lost at Harvard-Westlake High on Studio City 64-33 in a league game on Jan. 26 as Mosley racked up 16 points, three rebounds and two steals.
Domingo tallied four points, two steals and one rebound, Grant registered five rebounds and three points, and Childs finished with four rebounds and three points. Henry recorded three rebounds, two points and one block, Kalachian chipped in two points, two rebounds and one steal, and junior Liam Selak produced two points and one rebound. Junior Aaron Matthews notched five rebounds and one point, junior Joe Hickey was credited with two rebounds and one assist, and junior Ben O’Connor had one rebound and one assist.
St. Francis (18-9, 3-4) will finish competing in the Mission League Tournament on Feb. 2. Competing in Division I, Golden Knights will find out their postseason journey when the CIF Southern Section playoff brackets are released at noon on Feb. 4.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep junior Malcolm Cook and the Wolves will host Pasadena Polytechnic in their regular season finale on Feb 1

The Wolves extended their win streak to four games with a 67-42 nonleague victory at Bernstein High in Hollywood on Jan. 26.
Flintridge Prep previously secured a pair of Prep League victories at home. The Wolves defeated Palos Verdes Chadwic, 76-32, on Jan. 22 and topped Providence High of Burbank, 40-39, on Jan. 24. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Wolves (20-5, 6-1) will host Pasadena Polytechnic for their regular-season finale on Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Flintridge Prep will be competing in Division II-A of the CIF Southern Section playoffs.
