Sheriff’s Crime Report

A residential burglary was reported in the 4500 block of Alcorn Drive on Jan. 31 between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. While the homeowner was out of town, he received a notification from his security company, which advised him that his CCTV security cameras were unable to connect to the power within his residence. He did not investigate it any further as he didn’t find it suspicious. Later, he noticed that his security cameras were still unable to connect and contacted his friend to go check out his residence. The friend, who arrived at the residence and made entry through the garage door, said that the light would not turn on throughout the home and saw the front door had been opened. He then exited the residence and notified law enforcement of the incident. He did not hear or see anyone suspicious while inside the home or in the immediate area.
When deputies arrived, they entered the residence and found multiple areas that had been ransacked, with items from drawers and the closet found on the floor. Additionally, the lights were unable to turn on, and the deputy believes the main power had been turned off. In the backyard, the deputy saw a double panned glass door had been smashed by an unknown tool. He also saw a security camera left on the ground and noticed the main electricity breaker had been tampered with.

A residential burglary occurred in 5000 block of Hill Street between Jan. 26 at 12 a.m. and Jan. 29 at 11:59 p.m. The woman who reported the crime said she did not know what was taken because she does not live at the residence and only checks on the property for the homeowner. When she arrived at the residence, she said she saw that the front door was ajar. After entering, she saw the office had been ransacked and called law enforcement. The responding deputy discovered that the first-floor office was ransacked, with all the lower cabinet doors left open and multiple documents scattered on the floor, along with the first-floor bedroom, with multiple items thrown on the floor. The deputy also took note of a shattered glass door that was left ajar. The door had a hole in the double-paned glass next to the doorknob. A pink yoga mat was also found on the ground, directly in front of the shattered door, which appeared to have black smudges and shoe prints on it. In the kitchen, the sliding glass door was also shattered, with the lower corner of windowpane having a hole punched through it. In the hallway, the alarm panel and thermostat were pulled from the wall and discarded on the floor.
There were multiple surveillance cameras posted around the residence, but the informant did not have access to them at the time and requested the password from the victim. The woman who checks on the property for the homeowner told the deputy that the resident has been away since late October 2023 and has no plans to return. The residence was intact the last time she checked on it on Jan. 26.

A woman reported that a man wearing a white T-shirt, driving a newer car brandished a firearm at her while she was driving in the 4300 block of Cornishon Avenue on Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. Prior to the incident, the woman was driving westbound on Foothill Boulevard from Angeles Crest Highway. The suspect exited the 76 gas station and cut her off, which caused the woman to almost collide into the suspect’s vehicle. The woman merged over to a different lane and honked her horn. The suspect then pulled his vehicle alongside hers and stopped. She avoided making eye contact with him and once the light turned green, she continued westbound on Foothill Boulevard. She turned southbound toward a school and the suspect followed her. She then turned eastbound in the school parking lot and continued northbound through the parking lot toward Foothill Boulevard.
As the woman and suspect drove past each other, she saw the suspect hold the steering wheel with his left hand, while he raised his right hand up and over his left forearm. In his right hand, he was holding a black revolver and pointed it at her. The suspect then attempted to reverse his vehicle; however, there was another vehicle on the street directly behind him, blocking his path.
Fearing for her safety, the victim exited the parking lot as the suspect made a U-turn in one of the residential driveways. She drove eastbound onto Foothill Boulevard, northbound onto Angeles Crest Highway and onto the 210 Freeway to evade the suspect. During the incident, the victim was not sure of her exact location, but based on her description, the deputy said that she was near La Cañada Preparatory School.
