Wednesday, April 24, is International Noise Awareness Day, a global campaign organized by the Center for Hearing and Communication.
Unless or until our hearing is impacted, or we start to feel the accumulated negative impacts from a persistent noise source, we tend to overlook the discomfort and eventual harm to people, animals and ecosystem.
The air and soundscape we share as a community does not belong to any one individual or group. I believe we have a civic and moral obligation to use the public commons in ways that do not distract or injure others. For more information on hearing health practices, check out NoiseAwareness.org.
