Davitt: Humble, Grateful for Recognition

First published in the Sept. 1 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

This past week, I had the honor and privilege of receiving the Kiwanis Club recognition for La Cañadan of the Year. This was something that meant so much to me. I feel underserving of a such recognition, however I am humbled.
I wanted to take this opportunity to express my thanks to so many individuals who were involved with this event. First, I want to thank Kiwanis member, Dennis Fors, and president of Kiwanis, Terry Piasky, and all the Kiwanis members for your ongoing support. The good work that you do in our community is truly remarkable and noteworthy.
I also want to thank Bishop Todd Reynolds and Bishop David Van Slooten and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who graciously allowed us to use their wonderful facilities.
Special thanks for our City Council and City staff including our Sheriff’s Captain and Fire Chief for all you do for our community. I am especially grateful to all my friends and family who were able to join. It made the event even more special for Alison and me.
We live in such a wonderful community, and it is the hard work of so many who do so much that helps our city preserve the unique character that makes La Cañada Flintridge a great place to live and work.
Thank you to everyone.

Michael Davitt
