The Lanterman Historical Museum Foundation will host its annual Ragtime Tea Dance on March 12 from 12-5 p.m. in the Lanterman House Ballroom, featuring musicians Ian Whitcomb, Sheila-Murphy Nelson and more.
The dance class, taught by Regina Whitcomb and Christopher Miller, will be held from noon-1 p.m. The dancing and tea will take place from 1-5 p.m. A full afternoon tea will be provided by the Locke Noble Tea Co.
Guests are suggested to come dressed in historical attire from the 1917 time period. For those without historical attire, women may wear a loose fitting blouse and ankle length skirt. Men may wear a coat and tie.
According to Lanterman House Executive Director Melissa Patton, one of the delights of the annual event is how seriously guests take the period costuming. “Attire ranges from vintage pieces to clever reproductions of period dress,” she said.
Admission to the event includes the dance class, dancing, tea and tours of Lanterman House. Tickets are $50 per person and checks can be made out to “Lanterman Foundation” at the address, 4420 Encinas Drive, La Cañada, CA 91011. Tickets can also be purchased online at lantermanfoundation.org/1918. For more information, call (818) 790-1421 or visit lantermanfoundation.org.
