La Cañada High School Auditorium was the gathering site recently for area schools to celebrate Founders Day. Guests enjoyed a reception and then recognized honorees from each campus. The PTA awards ceremony “honors the people who make our schools great.”
A special Golden Oak Award was given to Palm Crest Elementary School 6th-grade teacher Judi Healey, L.A. County’s Teacher of the Year in 2000, who has served on curriculum councils and school site councils. The second Golden Oak Award was given to Laura Strametz, a teacher in the La Cañada Unified School District since 2001 who has taught at La Cañada Elementary and Palm Crest Elementary schools and is now at La Cañada High School.
