La Cañada High School, in conjunction with the LCHS Alumni Association, is sponsoring the first “Challenge Success: Building Your Path” event from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, at LCHS.

It will feature two highly acclaimed keynote speakers: Chris Buck, an Academy Award-winning director of the Disney animation feature “Frozen,” and Dr. Mark Urata, a renowned surgeon and head of the Plastic Surgery Division at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
The event also will include 30 successful presenters from the La Cañada Flintridge community, spanning the fields of entertainment, robotics, medicine, finance, writing, politics, sports, banking, law, engineering, science, education and nonprofits. They will offer insight, career stories and wisdom for our students and alumni.
“This is a phenomenal opportunity for our students and alumni to be exposed to numerous career paths,” said La Cañada Unified School District Governing Board member Brent Kuszyk, one of the event’s organizers.
Presenters will represent USC Keck Medical School, Northwestern Mutual Bank, Warner Bros., NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Capital Group, the Walt Disney Co., Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, Idealab, the Dodgers, USC Robotics and the “Halo” video game series, among others.
‘Challenge Success: Building Your Path’ is about our community supporting students’ abilities and talents, a time to foster creative and textured recognition of our collective strengths. For students, this day is about new platforms and new horizons” said LCHS Principal Ian McFeat.
The day will consist of two keynote speeches followed by three half-hour sessions where students may sign up to hear three presenters in separate sessions before noon.
