In its annual Graduation and Awards Banquet held at the Angeles National Golf Course, Hillside School granted diplomas to seven seniors. The dinner banquet was attended by more than 120 family members, friends, staff and guests.
Executive Director Bob Frank stated what an incredible group of young men and women the Hillside School was privileged to work with and thanked parents for their trust and the opportunity to work with their children. In addition to maintaining their grades and passing all graduation requirements for the state of California, six of the students worked part-time and all accomplished nearly 80 hours of community service through various nonprofit groups in the community during their high school experience.
Graduates included Steven Bertram, Jared Mason, Alanah Nunez, Taylor Pascal, Nick Roukes, Cameron St. Louis and Gemma Tuna.
Judy Mendicina and Barbara McCullough from Oakmont League of Glendale awarded student Steven Bertram a $1,000 scholarship for Cal State Northridge. Bertram also received more than $4,000 in scholarship funds from the Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada-Flintridge presented by Karen Mathison. In addition, Mathison presented Nick Roukes (Pasadena City College) and Gemma Tuna (Glendale Community College) with $500 scholarships.
Joe Thompson from La Cañada Kiwanis AM presented Alanah Nunez with a $500 scholarship to attend Glendale Community College.
