Former Spartan Selected by Hometown Team in MLB Draft

La Cañada High School graduate and Cornell University senior Justin Lewis was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 28th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft last week.
Lewis, who graduated from LCHS in 2014, was 3-2 on the mound this year with an ERA of 5.32 in eight starts. The former Spartan struck out 45 hitters in 45 2/3 innings and turned in stellar performance in April when he tossed five-hit shutout against Penn.
The 6-2 left-hander was the 850th overall pick and the 16th pitcher to be selected by the Dodgers. Lewis reportedly signed with his hometown team to officially become a member of the Dodgers organization.
