The Verdugo Hills Council of Boy Scouts of America will be holding its 42nd annual Big Strike Auction. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Calamigos Equestrian Center. This year’s theme is Fiesta de Los Verdugos.
Proceeds from the auction help the Verdugo Hills Council continue to offer support to more than 2,000 Scouts from cities, including La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Montrose, Sunland Burbank, Eagle Rock, Glendale and Tujunga. Camp programs, ranging from the family-oriented Cub Scout camping weekends of Rocket Academy and Haunt-On to Boy Scout Camporee, help keep the outing in Scouting. The auction also helps maintain Camp Verdugo Oaks, the Council’s local camp facility north of Castaic and Camp Silver Fir in the High Sierra.
