LCHS Art Teacher’s Design in Running at L.A. Fashion Show

La Cañada High School art teacher Serafina Kenwood has been selected to participate in this year’s Metropolitan Fashion Week on Thursday, Sept. 28, in Los Angeles.
The free public event, including a runway show and costume competition, will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Original Farmers Market at 6333 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles. The theme this year is a tribute to Colleen Atwood, a four-time Oscar-winning costume designer.
Kenwood estimates she has spent about three hours a day on her costume since learning she’d been selected as one of the participating designers three months ago. She isn’t allowed to show her design to anyone — including interested students — but she can reveal that her costume is inspired by the Red Queen character designed by Atwood in “Alice Through the Looking Glass.”
