Arabo Parseghian said he expects the La Cañada Flintridge’s new permit tracking software system to be running by October, if not earlier.
Parseghian, a division manager within the city’s administrative department, updated the City Council on the work implementing the program.
He said he and Deputy Director of Community Development Susan Koleda have completed two of six phases in the process, with a four-month test by the planning department on the horizon.
Following that, staff will complete the final data conversion and then the system will go live.
“The public contractors will be able to access their own portal, apply for permits online, check the status and submit plans online for review,” Parseghian said. “And then staff will be able to comment online, applicants will be able to comment back and finally be able to make credit card payments.”

EXEMPTION AWARENESS
The City Council deemed January to be Homeowners’ Exemption Awareness month as part of a countywide initiative aimed at promoting a property tax savings. According to Assistant Assessor David Gevorkyan, more than 25% of LCF residents fail to take advantage of the available reduction, bypassing $108,000 in annual savings citywide.

COMMUNITY GRANTS
Council members voted 4-0 to authorize distribution of $95,485 in Community Development Block Grant Program Funding for projects that relate to either residential rehabilitation or sewer connection.
The funds, the result of the 1974 federal Housing and Community Development Act, are aimed at benefiting low income or moderate income individuals, as well as those with disabilities wishing to remove architectural barriers.
