La Cañada High School recently held its 7-12 Band and Orchestra Festival Concert, with many of the music selections for this program were performed the week prior at Carnegie Hall.
Music Director Jason Stone and members of the 9-12 Band and Orchestra recently returned from their trip to New York. Stone said the highlight of the trip was playing at the prestigious music hall.
The group played “Hoe-down” from Rodeo by New York composer Aaron Copeland, with solos from Victoria Pak and Brooke Gilchrest.
Also playing in this concert was the 7/8 Band and Orchestra directed by Amanda Svetich. The 8th Grade Chamber Orchestra played a piece by Bach, and the 7/8 Bucket Drumming Ensemble performed “That Guy Next to Me.”
