Pickleball Saved Life in Pandemic

First published in the Aug. 11 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

Pickleball saved my life and sanity during COVID. True, in the beginning we wore masks, but we still were outside enjoying the beautiful California weather and getting our much-needed vitamin D.
We have been playing on one court behind the skate park for a couple of years now. No one is at the skate park, but on Saturdays and Sundays we have a waiting line of people wanting to play pickleball.
We have the demand and players, but we don’t have any true courts in La Cañada Flintridge. I truly believe that adding dedicated pickleball courts to our community will enhance our town and even bring people from the outlier cities to come and visit us. This will only benefit the community because those people will shop and eat in La Cañada.
I look forward to seeing the completion of two to four devoted pickleball courts in our lovely La Cañada community.
