St. Francis Remains Undefeated

The St. Francis High School varsity football team remained undefeated in Angelus League action after routing visiting St. Paul High of Santa Fe Springs, 49-20, last Friday. The first-place Golden Knights collected their fifth straight victory and secured at least a share of the league title with just one game remaining in the regular season.
Senior Devyn Turner rushed for a game-high 220 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries. He also made a pair of catches for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Senior Jack Jacobs had seven completions for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while senior Jett Mccullough scored on a 28-yard reception and made a pair of interceptions on defense. Junior Preston Jernegan had an 18-yard reception, registered a game-high 14 tackles and made an interception, while senior Antonio Merlos made two catches for 20 yards. Senior Hank Foley made a 13-yard catch, senior Owen Peterson rushed for 6 yards on one attempt and senior Clint Geryak went 5-for-6 in PAT attempts.
Junior Phillip Ocon amassed 11 tackles while junior Alex Juarez and sophomore Julian Navarro each racked up seven tackles. Senior Racin Delgatty finished with five tackles, senior Ryan Doerfler recorded four tackles and a sack, and seniors DruShun Phillips and Michael Gordo each made four tackles. Junior John Calmette had three tackles, senior Julian Oses finished with one tackle and a sack, and junior Adam Sandoval, junior Nizam Nama and sophomore Thomas Deluccia each had one tackle.
SFHS (4-0 in league, 7-2 overall) will have a chance to win the league title outright if it defeats rival host Loyola High in Los Angeles (3-1 in league) in its regular-season finale this Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. The CIF-SS playoff brackets will be released on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m.
