The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ soccer concluded the regular season on a two-game win streak after defeating Temple City, 4-2, and San Marino, 5-0, in a pair of home Rio Hondo League games last week. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Spartans (6-0-4 in league, 8-10-5 overall), who finished second in league, hosted Fillmore (9-7-5 overall) for their CIF-Southern Section Division V wildcard match on Tuesday; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, LCHS would advance to a first-round matchup at El Segundo (11-6-4 overall) Thursday. Two consecutive victories would send the Spartans to the second round on Saturday, Feb. 11.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights concluded the regular season by routing visiting Notre Dame High of Sherman Oaks, 7-1, in a Mission League game last Wednesday.
Senior Giovanni Nieves registered a hat trick while senior Bobby Layman, junior Julian Jimenez and junior Alex Lopez each scored once. Senior Nick Ferry was credited with a pair of assists while freshman goalie Rome Strongin made four saves.
SFHS defeated visiting Crespi High of Encino, 3-1, in a league matchup last Monday. Junior Luke Wyatt, Nieves and Jimenez each had one goal while Strongin posted three saves.
The Golden Knights (7-7 in league, 9-11-1 overall) visited Fontana (15-4-5 overall) for their CIF-Southern Section Division III wildcard contest on Tuesday; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline. If victorious, SFHS would advance to the first round and visit Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta (19-1-1 overall) Thursday. Two consecutive playoff victories would send the Golden Knights to a second-round matchup on Saturday, Feb. 11.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
Flintridge Prep dropped its Prep League finale against visiting Pasadena Polytechnic, 7-1, last Wednesday. The Wolves tied host Providence High in Burbank, 3-3, in a league matchup last Tuesday. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Prep finished the campaign third in the league standings with a 3-3-3 record (6-6-4 overall).
