La Cañada, St. Francis Fall in Playoffs

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ soccer team was ousted from the CIF-Southern Section Division V playoffs after losing its first-round game at El Segundo, 4-1, last Thursday.
Junior Jamie Saunders scored the lone goal for LCHS.
The Spartans previously defeated visiting Fillmore, 3-1, in their CIF wildcard game. Senior Isaac Reiter, senior Royce Xiao and junior Alan Razo each scored once, Saunders recorded a pair of assists and sophomore Harrison Chant was credited with an assist.
LCHS finished the campaign at Rio Hondo League runners-up with a 6-0-2 record (9-11-5 overall) and will look to return to the postseason next year.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights lost at Fontana, 3-2, in their CIF-Southern Section Division III wildcard game last Tuesday.
Senior Giovanni Nieves and junior Giuliano Lampasona each scored once while freshman goalie Rome Strongin racked up nine saves.
SFHS concluded the campaign fourth in the Mission League standings with a 7-7 record (9-13-1 overall).
