LCPC Offers Parenting Classes for Spring, Summer

LCPC Parent Education has announced five new classes for spring and summer. Registration for all classes is open and available on the Parent Education website: lacanadapc.org/parented.
Spring Infants Express Class meets Thursday mornings from 9-11 a.m. for parents with infants 0-12 months old. Parents will find advice, support and sustenance in a caring group setting. Taught by Nanette Brown and Daniela Kim, discussions topics include nursing and nutrition, sleep and changing family dynamics, infant safety and bonding with your infant.
The Art of Fatherhood is a Parent Express class designed for all fathers
with children from 0-18 years old. Facilitated by father of two, Ron Chiu, this class focuses on learning effective ways fathers can bond and connect with their children, while developing a stronger relationship with his spouse and/or
co-parent. Classes will meet on Wednesdays, May 10-31 from 7-8:30
p.m. with optional dinner offered from 6:30-7 p.m. in Pastor Chuck Osburn’s backyard.
Family Summer School is open to parents with children 0-5 years old. This four-week class, led by Sloan Walsh, will focus on the book “Raising Happiness” by Christine Carter. Classes will meet Wednesday and Thursday from 9:15-11:15 a.m. beginning May 24-25. In this class, participants will explore the ingredients for raising happy children who thrive with topics including: “Happy Mothers Raise Happy Kids,” “Enjoy Effort and Enjoyment, Not Perfection,” “Play, Friendship and Belonging” and “Family Fun and Togetherness.”
Babies Summer School is designed for parents and their children 0-12 months old and will meet Wednesday mornings from 9-11 a.m. beginning May 24. Parents and babies remain together during class. This four-week summer school class will provide a space to learn, ask questions, make new friends and share with other parents who are in the same boat. Some topics will include ideas for staying connected and fighting isolation, balancing parental needs with baby needs, sleep patterns of your growing baby and healthy family choices.
Parent Ed’s 2023-2024 program year will begin in September 2023. Registration for those classes will open on May 10. Many classes fill up fast so make sure to register early. Check the website at lacanadapc.org/parented for a full schedule of classes.
