Spartans Lose to San Marino, South Pasadena

The La Cañada High School varsity baseball team were victims of a no-hitter and lost at San Marino, 7-0, in a Rio Hondo League game on Monday.
LCHS seniors Alex Higa and Ethan Geller each walked once in the defeat.
The Spartans previously lost a league game against visiting South Pasadena, 4-2. Sophomore Josh Proctor produced a double, Higa finished with a hit and a run, and junior Hayden Dancsecs, junior Justin McCubbin a hit and freshman Will Park each had a base hit. Geller scored once while sophomore Carson Kelly was credited with an RBI.
Fourth-place LCHS (7-13 overall, 4-6 in league) will host San Marino for a league game today at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Cathedral High of Los Angeles for their regular-season finale on April 26.

The Wolves snapped a two-game skid after posting a convincing 10-3 Prep League victory at Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia on Saturday as sophomore Brian Xu went 2-for-3 with five RBIs, a run scored and a steal.
Freshman Will Grable, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, a walk and a steal, racked up seven strikeouts over three innings while freshman Nathan Sanok, who had a double, an RBI and a run, registered six strikeouts over three innings. Senior captain John Kully registered a double, three runs and a steal, sophomore Rowan Schaeffer tallied a hit and an RBI, and sophomore Calvin Chen produced a hit and a run. Senior captain Max Brunngraber walked once and scored while junior George Hayes walked once. Sophomore Will Koh finished with an RBI while senior captain Graham DesHotel stole a base.
Flintridge Prep lost at Nogales High in La Puente, 12-3, in a nonleague game last Wednesday as Kully went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and a run. DesHotel and Grable each produced a hit and a run while Schaeffer had a base hit. Brunngraber tallied an RBI while Hayes walked once.
The Wolves were shut out at Alhambra, 3-0, in a nonleague game last Tuesday. DesHotel had a base hit, Xu walked twice and Grable walked once.
First-place Flintridge Prep (12-7 overall, 7-2 in league) will visit Marshall High in Pasadena for a nonleague game today at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Monrovia on April 22. The Wolves will conclude the regular-season next week with a pair of league games against Providence High of Burbank.

The Golden Knights lost to visiting Simi Valley, 8-1, in a nonleague game on Thursday.
Sophomore Jordan Lewallen went 2-for-4, junior Callum Clark finished with a hit and a run, and sophomore Caleb Thatcher tallied a hit and a pair of walks. Senior Lucas Dixon, who walked twice, recorded two strikeouts over 1.2 innings on the mound while junior Lucas Favretto had six strikeouts over 3.1 innings. Junior Kal-El Holguin walked twice while senior Grant Valentine, senior Liam Thatcher, junior Jordan Viramontes and sophomore Dane Shepard each walked once.
SFHS previously defeated visiting St. Bonaventure High of Ventura in a nonleague game, 4-1. Caleb Thatcher, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run, a walk and a steal, racked up eight strikeouts with three hits, one walk and one earned run over 5.1 innings to earn the win while senior Xander Douglas posted a three up, three down shutdown inning to earn a save. Dixon went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run and a steal while junior Brody Ruyle went 2-for-3 with a steal. Junior Aaron Hernandez produced a double while Dane Shepard had a base hit. Viramontes walked and scored once, Clark scored once and junior James Mishler stole a base.
Fourth-place St. Francis (11-11 overall, 7-8 in league) will host Crespi High of Encino for a Mission League game on Friday, April 21, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Notre Dame High of Sherman Oaks on Monday, April 24. The Golden Knights will conclude the regular season with a home matchup against Notre Dame on April 27.
