LCF Names Gazebo, Community Room After Former Mayor

The La Cañada Flintridge City Council introduced to the public the newly updated gazebo in Olberz Park on April 6. The gazebo is dedicated in memory of former Mayor Dave Spence, who is the only person to serve as mayor six times in LCF. “After Mr. Spence’s passing and you will recall that Dave was a member of the City Council for a good 25 years and a six-time mayor,” City Manager Mark Alexander said. The city staff brought to the City Council several alternatives: the gazebo at Olberz Park and the community room in City Hall. The City Council had asked for community donations for an appropriate memorial to Spence, who died in 2017, and raised about $6,000. After the ribbon cutting at the gazebo, the public gathered in the newly named City Hall David A. Spence Community Room for refreshments.
