Lutheran Church Wraps Up Vacation Bible School

Lutheran Church in the Foothills looks a bit like a zoo this week with “VBS: Weird Animals” underway for children ages 4 to 12. The program runs through June 23 from 9 a.m. to noon.
This year’s Vacation Bible School theme centers on what makes all beings unique and reminds children that nothing compares to the extraordinary love of Jesus, a church spokesperson said.
VBS is an annual tradition at LCIF. A VBS barbecue celebration will be held on Sunday, June 25, following the 10 a.m. worship service with Pastor Rick Hall.
Last Sunday, Hall delivered his first sermon as LCIF’s new full-time pastor. The service included the baptism of four children, a celebration of Father’s Day and the presentation of a homemade quilt to a recent high school graduate and LCIF member. (It is a long-standing tradition at LCIF for graduating church members to receive a homemade quilt to take with them to college or wherever their next chapter in life takes them.) This year’s quilt was lovingly stitched by Lee Clarke and presented to Joanna Gropper, who will attend American University this fall.
For church information or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
