Crescenta Valley Station to Host Disaster Preparedness Event

The Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station will be hosting a disaster preparedness event on Thursday, July 20, at La Cañada High School from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The goal of the event is to educate the public on how they can prepare for a large-scale disaster.
From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., there will be displays from all the station teams, including the Community Emergency Response Team, Montrose Search and Rescue, volunteers, the Disaster Communication Service, Uniform Reserve Deputies and the Explorer Program. A mobile command post display from the Department’s Emergency Operations Bureau will also be present.
From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the townhall portion of the evening will be in the school’s Performing Arts Center. Sheriff Robert Luna is scheduled to attend and give opening remarks. There will also be speakers from the Montrose Search and Rescue Team, Emergency Operation Bureau and CERT. Following the presentations, there will be a short question and answer session, which will conclude the festivities.
The event will be free for the public to attend. For those who are unable to attend, it will be streaming on the Sheriff Station’s social media platforms.
