Seasons Begin for Local Squads

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ water polo team started the season this week with a pair of home matchups against Pasadena and Glendale; the results were unavailable by the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
The Spartans will compete in the Pasadena Polytechnic Tournament this weekend before hosting Burroughs High of Burbank for a nonleague game on Aug. 30.
Last season, LCHS finished third in the Rio Hondo League with a 3-5 record (5-17 overall) and was eliminated in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division IV playoffs against Vista Murrieta.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves kicked off the season yesterday by hosting San Marino in a nonleague game; the result will be included in the next week’s of the Outlook Valley Sun. Flintridge Prep will visit Arcadia for a nonleague matchup on Tuesday before hosting South Pasadena on Aug. 31.
Last season, the Wolves finished second in the Prep League with a 5-3 record (20-9 overall) and were eliminated in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs against Capistrano Valley High of Mission Viejo.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights opened the season yesterday at Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City; the result will be included in next week’s issue of the Outlook Valley Sun. SFHS will visit Loyola High in Los Angeles for a nonleague matchup next Thursday at 3 p.m. before visiting Arcadia on Sept. 12.
Last season, St. Francis finished last in the Mission League with an 0-4 record (11-13 overall).
