Spartans Improve to 2-0 With Win Over Norwalk

The La Cañada High School varsity football team made an impressive second-half comeback to defeat visiting Norwalk 50-43 in a nonleague game.
Although the Spartans trailed 35-14 at halftime, LCHS rallied with 14 points in the third quarter and 22 points in the fourth to clinch a remarkable victory and remain unbeaten this season. The defense stood out by limiting the visiting Lancers to only eight points during the second half while the offense produced its second consecutive 50-plus point performance.
Senior quarterback Macky Plocher completed 12 of 20 passes for 209 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and rushed for 103 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries. Senior Lorenz Bayug rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on six carries, while senior Alan Razo made a pair of catches for 113 yards and scored a touchdown.
Senior Tyler Bond had five receptions for 51 yards, recovered a fumble and scored a two-point conversion while junior Quest Swan went 6-for-6 in PAT attempts. Senior Luke Raulli had three catches for 29 yards while senior Hayden Dancsecs made a pair of receptions for 16 yards.
Junior Josh Carruthers amassed 25 tackles while senior Kei Hartzberg racked up 18 tackles. Juniors River Wokosin and Cole Parisi each registered eight tackles while senior Paulos Cucullu and junior Scott Carey each tallied six tackles. Junior Morgan Strauss finished with five tackles and a fumble recovery while junior Syem Bangash recorded five tackles. Juniors Warner Ibsen and Spencer Turner each notched three tackles while senior Brandon Goldsby, senior Anthon Cannon and junior Jason Xaypraseuth each had one tackle.
LCHS will visit Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary High in Montebello for a nonleague game Friday at 7 p.m. followed by a home matchup with Santa Paula on Sept. 8.
