Sheriff’s Crime Report

A burglary was reported in the 900 block of Foothill Boulevard on Oct. 1 at 1:44 a.m. The deputies arrived at the location and saw that the front entry door glass was shattered but still intact with the door locked and secured. A smaller window was also shattered next to the front entry door. Deputies searched through the property and found no suspects, but found the cash register drawers and the safe deposit open on the floor near the register area. Upon further investigation, it appeared that the safe deposit box drawer was pried open. The deputies tried to contact both the manager and the regional manager, but they were both unable to assist in the investigation and securing of the business at the time. The deputies were unable to determine what items were stolen and/or if money was taken.

A grand theft was reported in the 4900 block of Oakwood Avenue on Sept. 24 at 2:05 p.m. The Sheriff’s Communications Dispatcher broadcasted that a gold chain had been stolen from a victim, and that the suspect was last seen driving northbound in a red SUV. The victim told the deputies that she was gardening outside in her front yard when she saw a small red SUV with three occupants inside. The vehicle drove northbound on Oakwood Avenue and stopped in front of her residence. One of the suspects, a female, exited the vehicle and approached the victim and started to engage in conversation initially asking for directions, during which the suspect learned about the victim’s upcoming birthday. The suspect then asked the victim if she could gift her a gold chain and the victim agreed. The suspect then put the chain around the victim’s neck and fastened it. The suspect immediately ran to the waiting vehicle and drove off at a high speed northbound on Oakwood Avenue. The victim then realized that the gold chain and pendant she was wearing was gone and that the suspect had taken it. She immediately called 911 and deputies tried to search for surveillance cameras in the area.

A petty theft incident was reported in the 600 block of Foothill Boulevard on Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, the deputy contacted the store manager and provided the information. The manager said that an unknown person entered the unlocked front door of the store, since the business was open at the time of the incident, and the suspect went to the liquor aisle and took nine bottles of liquor from the shelf and placed them in his black duffel bag. The suspect then passed by the open cash registers without attempting to pay for the concealed merchandise. The suspect was described as a male with a medium build wearing a black shirt, black shorts, black shoes and carrying a black duffel bag.

A petty theft was reported in the 200 block of Mariners View on Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. The victim only spoke Korean to the deputy, but the deputy was a Korean bilingual speaker for the Sheriff’s Department. The victim said that he left for church and at about 10:30 p.m., he returned to his house. Before entering his house, he checked his vehicle and noticed that the interior had been ransacked and several items had been taken. The victim reviewed his surveillance footage from the garage roof, which clearly captured the street where he had parked. In the video, the victim observed a suspect strolling casually along the street, confidently opening the passenger door of the victim’s unlocked vehicle. The suspect took items from inside the vehicle and another suspect driving a dark-colored sedan approached the first suspect. The suspect going through the victim’s car got into the other suspect’s vehicle with his belongings and drove off. The deputy reviewed the footage and saw the same thing, but due to poor lighting at the time of the incident, the deputy was unable to determine the model or color of the suspect’s vehicle or see what specific items were taken. The victim stated that his Samsung smartphone, DMV registration, and his Garmin GPS navigator were taken from his vehicle.
