Lutheran Church to Bless School Supplies, Quilt Donations

Lutheran Church in the Foothills is preparing to send much-needed items to people in need around the world.
A total of 106 backpacks, loaded with school supplies donated by church and community members, will be distributed. In addition, LCIF’s Quilting Group hand stitched more than 30 quilts to be used as bedding, simple tents or floor coverings. The backpacks and quilts will be distributed through Lutheran World Relief. The items to be distributed will receive a special blessing during this Sunday’s 10 a.m. worship service with Pastor Rick Hall. A potluck will follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall.
A new food drive is underway at LCIF. People are encouraged to bring canned goods to the church for those who are hungry, homeless, or unemployed/underemployed. Canned goods can be dropped off during Sunday worship or anytime at the church’s office. They will be distributed to the food pantry at Heart of the Canyon Church in Tujunga.
LCIF also invites the community to its annual Trunk or Treat event, which will fall on the Sunday before Halloween. LCIF says the event is a safe, daytime opportunity for kids to wear their Halloween costumes, play games, and trick or treat among decorated car trunks in LCIF’s parking lot. This year’s event will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Visit lcifoothills.org for event details. For more information or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
