Spartans Sink Monrovia in League Contest

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ water polo team routed host Monrovia 18-1 in a Rio Hondo League game on Oct. 5.
Senior Jacob Goldsworthy recorded four steals and three goals, junior Beckett Chung produced four saves and three goals, and junior Tait Landswick finished with three goals and three steals. Senior lan Wipfli tallied four steals and two goals, junior Alexander Abramian registered two goals and two steals, and freshman Arshan Soltanzadeh finished with four steals and two goals. Freshman Liam Applegate chipped in four steals and one goal, freshmen Dante Varshavsky and Landon Karlich each scored one goal, and senior Connor Weightman had one steal.
The Spartans lost to visiting Temple City 17-10 in a league game on Oct. 3.
Chung registered six saves, while Abramian and Landswick each scored three goals. Wipfli tallied two goals, while Goldsworthy and Soltanzadeh had one goal.
La Cañada (7-11 overall, 1-3 in league) will visit South Pasadena for a league game on Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. before hosting San Marino on Oct. 17.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights dominated host Eagle Rock High in Los Angeles 14-3 in a nonleague game on Oct. 6.
Junior Nick Karamian racked up six goals, junior Cooper Klosterman scored four goals and junior Gavin Gates won the sprint each quarter.
St. Francis (5-12, 0-3) will visit Muir High in Pasadena for a nonleague game on Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. before visiting Crespi High in Encino for a Mission League game on Oct. 18. The Golden Knights will then conclude the regular season by competing in the Ayala Tournament on Oct. 20 and 21.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves picked up an 11-6 Prep League victory at Palos Verdes Chadwick on Oct. 6.
Elliot Oakes and Charlie Simonian each recorded three goals, Carter Morrell and Ridley Tolleson each chipped in two goals, and Nicho Dermovsesian scored one goal. Oliver Andrews tallied three saves while Aram Kedeshian produced two saves.
Flintridge Prep defeated visiting Brentwood School of Los Angeles 15-13 in a league game on Oct. 4.
Tolleson racked up eight goals, while Kedeshian finished with seven saves. Simonian contributed three goals, Morrell registered two goals, and Carson Ho and Oakes each added one goal
The Wolves (9-10, 3-1) will visit Brentwood School in Los Angeles for a league game on Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. before visiting Pasadena Polytechnic on Oct. 17.
