La Cañada Prep Drama Club Attends Competition

Members of La Cañada Preparatory’s Drama Club attended the 82nd annual Drama Teachers Association of Southern California Fall Festival Drama Competition on Saturday, Nov. 4.
The DTASC competition consists of two rounds of judged performances/presentations. Students qualify for finals by being in the top 10 after the first two rounds. Out of the 31 schools at the festival, the LCP Drama Club members took home the Spirit Award while all five LCP entries advanced to the final round.
Sixth-grader Nata Aloyan took home first place for Costumes/Make-up. Eighth-graders Delilah Mashhoud and Leila Morvarid earned a fourth-place finish in Two-Person Scenes while sixth-graders Jaqueline Grigoryants and Caroline Schroeder came in ninth. Sixth-graders Katherine Abramian, Ava C. Avakian, Caesar Hu, Christian Lund, Farah Mashhoud and Anais Rupchian won sixth place in Group Scenes. Sixth-grader Anais Rupchian brought home a ninth-place finish in Individual Scene/Song.
The Drama Club is headed up by advisor Kristin Maitlen who is also the music and singing teacher at The Learning Castle and LCP.
The Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory are WASC-accredited private schools for 4-year-olds through eighth graders located on the site of the former FIS campus at 4490 Cornishon Ave. in La Cañada.
