Sheriff’s Crime Report

A grand theft was reported at a business in the 600 block of Foothill Boulevard, when two women carried multiple ski jackets out the store without attempting to pay for them on Nov. 30 at 6:28 p.m. An employee said the women were wearing green jackets. After exiting the business with the merchandise, they were seen getting into a black Hyundai sedan that drove northbound on Oakwood Avenue.

A catalytic converter was stolen from a 2020 Toyota Corolla between Santa Inez Way and Del Monte Road on Nov. 30 between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. The car owner’s wife said that she heard a loud sawing noise outside, but that when it stopped, she disregarded the sound. The victim did not have any surveillance footage of the crime; however, the deputy contacted a neighbor who had a camera which showed a gray sedan drive slowly down Santa Inez Way, make a U-turn near the victim’s vehicle and then stop.

A man stole items from a vehicle parked in the driveway of the victim’s home in the 4300 block of Commonwealth Avenue on Nov. 30 at 1:09 a.m. The victim, who received a text message alert from his Ring camera, said he saw a man wearing a black baseball cap and black T-shirt walk onto his property. The suspect was then seen walking westbound from the street onto his driveway and toward his vehicles, a gray 2018 Tesla Model 3 and a gray 2015 Ford F150. The suspect was on the property for about two to three minutes. He saw the suspect go to the Ford F150 and open the driver’s door. He opened the center console and left it ransacked. Items stolen from the vehicle included keys to the Ford F150, house keys, a pair of black Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses, one FasTrak transponder and money.

A petty theft was reported in the 400 block of Foothill Boulevard on Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. The victim entered a store to shop for groceries, and when she tried to pay for her items at the cash register, she noticed that her wallet was missing. Thinking she might have left it at home, she drove home and was unable to find it. She drove back to the store to ask if someone had turned in her wallet, but later received a text message from Discovery Bank asking if she authorized a transaction from CVS Pharmacy. She replied “no” to the text message and received another message from American Express bank asking if she authorized a transaction from CVS Pharmacy and she replied “no” to the message. She then called Citibank to report her credit card had been stolen. While inside the store, the victim recalled a middle-aged woman wearing a light-colored jacket, sparkly slippers and a pearl bracelet asking her opinion on different types of bread. She told police that she now believes the woman was asking her questions to distract her from her purse, which she left in the child seat of the shopping cart.
