Spartans Maintain Unbeaten Start

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ soccer team edged Dr. Maya Angelou Community High in Los Angeles 2-, in a nonleague matchup on Dec. 4.
Junior Harry Chant and sophomore Rafayel Sahakyan each scored one goal, while junior Armen Kozanian and freshman Trevor Rivas were each credited with an assist.
The Spartans posted a narrow 2-1 nonleague victory over visiting Pasadena on Dec. 1. Chant and Sahakyan each recorded one goal, while senior Zach Caro and Kozanian each had one assist.
The Spartans tied host Maranatha High in Pasadena 3-3 in a nonleague contest on Nov. 28. Chant registered two goals and one assist, while Kozanian tallied two assists and one goal.
The Spartans (3-0-1 overall) will visit La Salle College Preparatory in Pasadena for a nonleague match on Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. before opening Rio Hondo League action against Temple City on Dec. 13.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights tied visiting Santa Barbara 1-1 in a nonleague matchup on Dec. 2. Freshman goalie Nshan Manoucherian tallied seven saves, while junior Alex Hartley scored one goal.
St. Francis shut out visiting Flintridge Prep 4-0 in a nonleague match on Nov. 30 as head coach Glen Appels earned his 500th career victory.
Senior Giuliano Lampasona registered two goals, while sophomore Jack Hartley and Alex Hartley each contributed one goal.
The Golden Knights edged visiting Arcadia 2-1 in their season opener on Nov. 28.
Senior Luke Wyatt and Lampasona each scored once, senior Alex Lopez was credited with a pair of assists, and Manoucherian had two saves.
St. Francis (2-0-1) will host Palos Verdes High of the Palos Verdes Estates for a nonleague match on Dec. 9 at 4:30 p.m. before opening Mission League action against visiting Sierra Canyon High of Chatsworth on Dec. 11.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves opened the season with a pair of 4-0 nonleague losses against South Pasadena and St. Francis High.
Flintridge Prep (0-2) will visit Duarte for a nonleague match on Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. before traveling to Pasadena Polytechnic for its Prep League opener on Dec. 12.
