Musso, Sengul Guide Spartans to Nonleague Win

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ basketball team secured a 54-35 nonleague victory over visiting Bell Gardens on Dec. 7.
Junior Jennifer Musso racked up 19 points, six rebounds, two steals and two assists, while sophomore Emma Sengul finished with 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Junior Sydney Magtoto tallied eight points, seven rebounds, one steal and one assist, while sophomore Madison Hunt registered six rebounds, four points, one block and one steal. Senior Andrianna Pitsos contributed five rebounds, three points, three assists, two steals and one block, senior Talia Miyamoto recorded six rebounds, three points, three assists and two steals, and freshman Tessa Choi chipped in three points, one steal and one rebound. Junior Ella Magtoto collected two rebounds and one steal, senior Isabella Chividjian notched one block and freshman Violet Waugh had one rebound.
The Spartans (4-4 overall) will host South Pasadena for a Rio Hondo League game on Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m. before hosting its New Years Ball Tournament, starting with a matchup against Maranatha High of Pasadena on Dec. 26.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

Flintridge Prep sophomore Maddie Smith scored 13 points to help the Wolves beat Rio Hondo Prep in a Prep League game on Dec 11

The Wolves cruised to a 64-21 victory over visiting Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia in a Prep League game on Dec. 11.
Sophomore Maddie Smith registered 13 points, while freshmen Addison Lee and Hailey Louie each scored nine points. Sophomore Akemi Fu finished with eight points and seven rebounds, sophomore Pressley Huie recorded seven points, and freshman Megan Quoch contributed six points. Junior Olivia Childs tallied seven rebounds and four points, while senior Catherine Baldocchi, senior Izzie Chan, junior Gigi Mastras and freshman Miya Naruko each chipped in two points.
Flintridge Prep won the Bonita-Claremont Tournament after defeating Claremont 47-31 in the championship game on Dec. 9.
Smith registered 18 points, while Lee tallied 10 points. Fu scored nine points, while Naruko and Quoch each recorded five points.
The Wolves defeated Chino Hills 47-42 in a tournament game on Dec. 7 as Smith racked up 23 points. Fu contributed eight points and seven rebounds, while Naruko finished with seven points and seven rebounds. Huie chipped in four points, Chan scored three points, Quoch tallied two points and Lee registered eight rebounds.
Flintridge Prep posted a 52-21 victory over Ayala High of Chino Hills in a tournament game on Dec. 6.
Smith and Fu each scored 11 points, while Quoch contributed nine points. Huie finished with seven points, while Naruko chipped in six points. Baldocchi, Mastras and Louie each tallied two points, junior Caydence Acker and Lee each contributed one point, and Childs collected seven rebounds.
The Wolves picked up a 64-45 victory over Yucaipa in their tournament opener on Dec. 5 as Smith produced 21 points.
Fu recorded 12 points, while Quoch finished with 11 points and six steals. Mastras and Louie each chipped in six points, while Naruko recorded three points. Childs and Lee each registered two points, while Huie had one point.
Flintridge Prep routed visiting Westridge School 60-19 in a league game on Dec. 8.
Smith contributed 17 points, while Quoch tallied 10 points. Chan, Lee and Louie each recorded five points, while Acker, Fu, Huie and Mastras each finished with four points. Baldocchi chipped in two points, while Childs had nine rebounds.
The Wolves (11-1 overall, 3-0 in league) will visit Palos Verdes Chadwick for a league game on Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. before competing in the La Cañada New Years Ball Tournament, starting with a matchup against Hart High of Newhall on Dec. 27.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy senior Isabelle Risha scored four points to help the Tologs beat Ramona High of Riverside on Monday

The Tologs defeated visiting Ramona High of Riverside 38-25 in a nonleague game on Dec. 11.
Junior Sophia Astacaan tallied 14 points, while junior Ava Nawrocki finished with 12 points. Senior Isabelle Risha scored four points, freshman Emily Petrosyan recorded three points, and sophomores Lori Yacoubian and Ruzanna Margaryan each chipped in two points.
FSHA defeated Holy Martyrs Armenian High of Encino 35-29 in their Polytechnic Tournament finale on Dec. 9 as Petrosyan was selected to the all-tournament team.
Nawrocki registered 17 points, while Risha scored 10 points. Astacaan tallied six points, while Petrosyan chipped in two points.
The Tologs defeated Pasadena 49-42 in a Poly Tournament game on Dec. 8 as Petrosyan amassed 28 points.
Nawrocki recorded 10 points, Astacaan finished with seven points, and Margaryan and Risha each scored two points.
Flintridge Sacred Heart suffered a 51-35 loss against Gabrielino High of San Gabriel in their Poly Tournament opener on Dec. 7.
Nawrocki contributed 11 points, while Risha produced nine points. Junior Amelie Kock, Astacaan and Petrosyan each chipped in four points, Margaryan finished with two points, and sophomore Grace Adair scored one point.
FSHA (5-6) will compete in the Sacred Heart Tournament starting on Dec. 27 before opening Sunshine League play at Louisville High in Woodland Hills on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m.
