Sheriff’s Crime Report

A residential burglary was reported in the 5200 block of Alta Canyada Road on Dec. 14 at 8:43 a.m. Deputies conducted a protective sweep of the residence after receiving a call for service. Upon observation there was a back north rear glass door leading into the residence that was shattered and the residence appeared to be ransacked.
The victim said that she and her husband left the residence and stated that all doors were locked in the residence and the alarm was set. She received a notification from her residence alarm app and immediately checked her CCTV camera and saw a shadowy figure near the bottom of her residence staircase.
The deputies, upon further investigation, discovered the master bedroom and two additional bedrooms on the second floor to be ransacked. The victim said that there was money, a Pate Felipe watch, a black Prada bag, two black Chanel handbags, and white gold diamond earrings stolen from her master bedroom. Deputies saw multiple drawers left open, disheveled countertops and a glass window of the master bedroom broken.

A residential burglary was reported in the 400 block of Meadow Grove Street on Dec. 15 at 7:28 p.m. Deputies conducted a protective sweep of the residence after receiving a call for service. Upon observation, the back rear glass window leading into the residence master bedroom was shattered. The master bedroom was ransacked, and the resident’s daughter said that she received a notification from her residence alarm via her cellphone. She attempted to contact her father, who lived at the residence, but he did not answer his phone.
She said she was unsure if the house was completely secured by her father before he left the residence. The deputies were unable to determine what, if any, items were taken. Deputies saw multiple drawers left open, disheveled items in the master bedroom and recovered a large Phillips screwdriver on the floor near the dresser.

A vehicle burglary occurred in the 1900 block of Verdugo Boulevard on Dec. 16 between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The victim arrived at a movie theater, parked and locked his 2015 black Kia Soul west of the movie theater. After, he opened the driver’s side door of his vehicle, he noticed the center console open. He saw items from his center console scattered on the front passenger seat. He then checked the locking mechanism on the front driver’s side door by attempting to use the key and said the key would not fit in the locking mechanism. The victim said an electric shaver, two LED remote controls and one iPhone was missing. The deputy canvassed the area for surveillance cameras and possible witnesses but was unable to locate any.

A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle was reported in the 4500 block of Alcorn Drive on Dec. 6 at 5:51 a.m. The victim parked her 2018 Honda Accord in her driveway, and after she departed from the location, she speculated that she might have not locked her vehicle’s doors. The next day, she returned to her vehicle and noticed that her trunk was ajar. She searched the inside of her vehicle interior and revealed that her jacket had been stolen.
She then reviewed the footage from her surveillance cameras, and it showed an individual rummaging through her vehicle. Due to the delayed activation of the cameras and its poor quality, it hindered the clear identification of the suspect. The deputy conducted an inspection of the vehicle and did not observe signs of forced entry or external damage, which suggests the possibility that the vehicle’s doors may have been unlocked.

A forged check incident occurred in the 700 block of Greenridge Drive between Dec. 2 at 12 p.m. and Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. The victim and his wife went to a U.S. Post Office to mail a check on Dec. 2. On Dec. 13, the victim was checking his finances and noticed that the check was deposited on Dec. 12, however, he did not recognize the name the check was written out to. He called the bank and was asked to file a fraud claim. A printout of the forged check was given to the victim, and he did not recognize the writing on the check. The victim did not suffer any financial loss because the bank froze the check.
