The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ soccer team blanked host Temple City 4-0 in their Rio Hondo League opener on Dec. 13.
Senior Caden Ring, junior Harry Chant, junior Armen Kozanian and freshman Trevor Rivas each scored one goal. Sophomore Rafa Sahakyan was credited with a pair of assists, junior Cole Parisi tallied one assist and senior Zac Edwards had one save.
The Spartans tied visiting South Pasadena 1-1 in a league game on Dec. 15. Chant recorded one goal, while junior Michael Malolepszy had one assist.
La Cañada (5-1-2 overall, 1-0-1 in league) will host Royal High of Simi Valley for a nonleague match on Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. before resuming league play at Monrovia on Jan. 10.
ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights defeated host Alemany High in Mission Hills 4-2 in a Mission League match on Dec. 15 as senior Luke Wyatt scored a hat trick.
Sophomore Dominic Guzman racked up eight saves, sophomore Cole Fletcher chipped in one goal, and senior Giuliano Lampasona, senior Kalani Quiroz, sophomore Jack Hartley and sophomore Patrick McPherson were each credited with one assist.
The Golden Knights routed visiting Sierra Canyon High of Chatsworth 5-0 in its league opener on Dec. 11.
Wyatt finished with one goal and one assist, senior Mike McCarthy, junior Alex Hartley, junior Daren Stepanians and Quiroz each scored one goal, and senior Julian Jimenez, junior Max Fletcher and junior Joe Bird each had one assist. Freshman Nshan Manoucherian made three saves, while Guzman tallied one save.
St. Francis (4-2-1, 2-0-0) will compete in a Winter Classic Tournament at the SilverLakes Soccer Complex next week before resuming league play against visiting Loyola High of Los Angeles on Jan. 3.

The Wolves battled to a scoreless stalemate in their Prep League opener at Pasadena Polytechnic on Dec. 12.
Flintridge Prep (1-3-1, 0-0-1) will host Providence High of Burbank for a league game on Jan. 10 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Polytechnic on Jan. 11.
