Lutheran Church to Host ‘Souper Bowl’

Lutheran Church in the Foothills is betting on a win-win for the Super Bowl. The church is encouraging community members to put their money in a soup pot for the team they think will win, with all the money going to charity.
The yearly tradition at LCIF, known as the “Souper Bowl of Caring,” will take place on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. The event is a way for people to celebrate the big game and support their favorite team — all while helping to alleviate hunger and poverty in their local communities. The money collected will be forwarded to Lutheran Social Services of Southern California.
LCIF will be holding a potluck and congregational meeting this coming Sunday, Feb. 4, following regular worship with Pastor Rick Hall. All are invited to bring a dish to share, enjoy the company of others, and learn more about LCIF. Sandwiches, salads and desserts are always appreciated.
Additionally, Sunday worship with Pastor Hall continues to include programming for young children. Children’s Church is offered during 10 a.m. worship. Families should meet in the church’s sanctuary. After a message for the children from Pastor Hall, the kids head to the Youth Room for games, crafts and study.
Visit lcifoothills.org for event details. For more information or to request or offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
