By City News Service

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire in La Cañada Flintridge that left a 67-year-old man dead and injured three people, including a firefighter.
Firefighters went to the 2000 block of Rancho Cañada Road, near Foothill Boulevard, shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday and extinguished the flames in the two-story, single-family structure in about 20 minutes, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Jacob Seong died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies arrived at the location before firefighters.
“When deputies arrived, they saw a woman inside the burning residence,” a sheriff’s department statement said. “Acting swiftly, they formulated a plan, broke a window, and entered the house to rescue her. Shortly after, firefighters arrived and forced entry through the front door. They discovered an unconscious man near the entrance whom they promptly moved outside for medical attention.”
A firefighter and two other people were taken to a hospital in unspecified condition. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
