Lacrosse: La Cañada, St. Francis Boys Teams Eye League Openers

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ lacrosse team lost at Village Christian High of Sun Valley 11-1 in a nonleague game on March 4. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Spartans competed in the Rose Bowl Jamboree on March 2 and finished with a 1-2 record. LCHS secured a narrow 6-5 victory over Tustin, but suffered a pair of 13-2 losses against Peninsula High of the Rolling Hills Estates and Portola High of Irvine. Junior Maddie McClure, sophomore Gretchen Louie, sophomore Rachel Herrick and freshman Julie Chien each scored goals during tournament play, while sophomore Kayla Bowman stood out in her first three career games in goal.
La Cañada (2-5 overall) will visit California High in Whittier for a nonleague game on March 12 at 4 p.m. before traveling to Birmingham Charter High in Lake Balboa on March 15.

BOYS’ LACROSSE
The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ lacrosse team lost at Simi Valley 18-5 in a nonleague game on March 1. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The Spartans lost at Chaminade High in West Hills 13-5 in a nonleague game on Feb. 29.
Senior Keshav Fernando registered two goals and two ground balls, senior Dylan Jeffries finished with two goals and one ground ball, and junior Finn Valderhaug tallied one goal and one ground ball. Junior Kai Gundersen racked up 13 saves, senior Mason O’Brien contributed seven ground balls, and senior Cayden Klein recorded five ground balls. Sophomore Parker Weightman produced three ground balls, while junior River Wokosin and sophomore Everett Hernandez each collected two ground balls. Senior Peter Tripathi had one ground ball, while juniors Einstein Shin and Milo Reifsnyder-Smith were each credited with one assist.
La Cañada (2-4) will host Viewpoint High of Calabasas for its Gold Coast League opener on March 12 at 3 p.m. before visiting Crescenta Valley High in La Crescenta on March 14.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights snapped their three-game losing streak with a 13-10 nonleague victory at Bellarmine College Prep of San Jose on March 2. SFHS lost at Saint Francis High in Mountain View, 14-11, in a nonleague game on Feb. 29. St. Francis suffered an 18-8 nonleague loss at Servite High in Anaheim on Feb. 27. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
St. Francis (4-3) will visit Agoura for a nonleague game on March 8 at 6 p.m. before visiting Sherman Oaks Notre Dame for its Mission League opener on March 12.
