Palm Crest Elementary recently engaged in Read Across America, a nationwide program which was launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA).
To celebrate the occasion, Palm Crest students read and did book-related crafts.
The NEA wants to make sure that all children have access to books. This year, the theme diversity and inclusion.
Read Across America encourages educators and parents to highlight the importance and fun of reading diverse books.
Children also were encouraged to bring in their favorite books to read.
