JPL Project Manager Tapped as Les Tupper Keynote Speaker

The keynote speaker of this year’s Les Tupper Community Service Awards will be Tim Larson, the Europa Clipper deputy project manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The ceremony, sponsored by the La Cañada Flintridge Coordinating Council, will be held Monday, April 8, at 7 p.m. at Flintridge Preparatory School’s Norris Auditorium.
Larson began his career at Hughes Aircraft Company in El Segundo and joined JPL in the early ‘90s. Throughout his 30-year career at JPL, he has had the opportunity to work with amazing teams on both project and line organizations.
Since 2015, he has been working on Europa Clipper. He is very excited to see this mission move from designs and concepts to a fully assembled spacecraft quickly approaching its launch to the Jovian system.
Europa Clipper is a NASA mission determining whether there are places below the surface of Jupiter’s icy moon, Europa, that could support life. The mission’s main objectives are to understand the nature of the ice shell and the ocean beneath it along with the moon’s composition and geology. It is scheduled to launch in October 2024 from Kennedy Space Center on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy.
The Les Tupper Community Service Award is an opportunity for the public to recognize volunteers for the tireless work they do in the community and elsewhere. For more information on the LCF Coordinating Council visit lcfcc.net.
