La Cañada Flintridge, L.A. County Fire Launches CERT Training Course

La Cañada Flintridge is collaborating with the Los Angeles County Fire Department to begin an eight-week Community Emergency Response Team training course starting Wednesday, March 27.
The CERT program equips residents with essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters within their communities. These in-person training sessions will occur over eight consecutive Wednesdays through May 15.
Each session will provide hands-on training and interactive learning experiences facilitated by certified L.A. County Fire Department instructors. Participants will learn various aspects of disaster response, including:

  • Disaster preparedness
  • Fire safety
  • Safety and life-saving skills
  • Course review and disaster simulation
    The city aims to enhance local preparedness efforts and empower residents to actively and effectively safeguard their neighborhoods. While there is no age restriction to participate, attendees 15 years of age and younger must be accompanied by a parent, and those 16 to 17 years of age must receive parental consent.
    Upon finishing the program, participants will receive a CERT Basic Training completion certificate. To receive a certificate, participants must complete the entire course. For more information and to register, please visit Fire.LAcounty.gov/Community-Emergency-Response-Team.
