Pops Concert Sept. 22 Benefits LCHS Choral Scholarships

La Cañada Flintridge’s award-winning choral music program kicks off the year on a fun note with the annual Pops Scholarship Concert on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at the La Cañada High School Auditorium.
The pops format is made up of a series of solo and small group performances, giving students an opportunity to leave their gowns and suits behind to perform their favorite pop songs. Last year, the playlist included songs by Elton John, Jason Mraz, the Chainsmokers, Sara Bareilles and Rachel Platten. Jeff Brookey, the LCHS choral director, will conduct.
The concert raises money for the Choral Music Scholarship Program, helping students defray the costs of international and domestic tours and competitions. Admission is $10 at the door.
The LCHS choral program is nationally recognized for teaching proper technique, choral performance and musicianship. Throughout the year, students study and perform a wide range of choral music from different eras and cultures. More information on the program can be found at lchschoral.org.
