Sierra Club Meets for Owls

The Crescenta Valley Sierra Club Group will introduce speaker Colleen MacKay of the Whittier Narrows Nature Center on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles County Public Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd.
MacKay will present several of the center’s raptors: a great horned owl named Professor Woody Owlbert, a red-tailed hawk named Naomi and a barn owl called Sora.
She will bring native pelts and will discuss secondary poisoning and threats facing birds of prey in Southern California. She will also talk about the potential effects of the latest fires on local wildlife and how a community can help.
This is a free event and everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served. Contact Wayne Fisher, program chair, at (818) 353-4181 for more information.
