Lutheran Church Celebrates One of Its Own

Lutheran Church in the Foothills is celebrating the accomplishments of member Olivia Brandt, who came up through the church’s Youth Group, and is now officially Dr. Olivia Brandt.
Brandt has successfully completed her doctorate program at the Purdue School of Materials Engineering. Her work focused on creating a novel ceramic heat exchanger for improved thermal efficiency of turbine engines. Brandt will work as a researcher in the Spacecraft Division of the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. Brandt received her undergraduate degree from UC Riverside, majoring in materials science.
Throughout her academic journey, Brandt remained active in her hometown church, LCIF, serving as acolyte and lector. LCIF members most recently enjoyed Brandt’s warm presence during her reading as Lector for its Christmas Eve service.
Brandt is the daughter of LCIF members Renee and Jeff Brandt, and the sister of Frederic.
As LCIF celebrates Olivia’s accomplishments, it would like to remind the community of its upcoming meeting for anyone interested in becoming a member of the church. Pastor Rick Hall will hold a New Members Meeting at the church on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 9:15 a.m. Regular Sunday worship will follow at 10 a.m.
Visit lcifoothills.org for event details. For more information or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
