One highlight from Paradise Canyon Elementary School’s Black History month events was a performance by the Metabrafo-Olokum Cultural Group.
Representing the Yoruba tribe from West Africa, Metabrafo Agindotan welcomed students by teaching them how to say greetings in the Yoruba language.
After he demonstrated the various drums they play, the group started with a drum roll and the music continued. To add to the excitement, two dancers performed and had everyone on their feet, learning a dance. Students felt the rhythm and danced along and were invited to join and play the drums. The event was chaired by Hilary Dancsecs.
