Spartans, Rebels Softball Win Big

The La Cañada varsity softball team shut out visiting South Pasadena, 10-0, last Friday to remain perfect in Rio Hondo League play.

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team blanked visiting rival South Pasadena, 10-0, in a Rio Hondo League contest last Friday.
The Spartans, guided by second-year head coach Chuck Gunter, improved to 10-3 on the season, including a perfect 6-0 record in Rio Hondo League play.
La Cañada, which has won 15 consecutive Rio Hondo League games dating back to last year, will travel to Temple City this Friday, April 21, at 3:30 p.m.

Lynwood Firebaugh 4

The Rebels scored early and often in a 13-4 victory over host Lynwood Firebaugh on Tuesday.
Melissa Grande had a career day in the batter’s box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a grand slam and six RBIs. Maya Vasquez finished 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI and had a stellar day defensively with five assists. Amari Dennis also had a solid performance at the plate with two hits and two RBIs.
Prep (8-4 overall, 4-3 in league) will travel to face Lynwood this Saturday, April 22, at 3:15 p.m.

Woodland Hills Louisville 6
Flintridge Sacred Heart 1

The Tologs returned from their three-week hiatus and fell to visiting Woodland Hills Louisville, 6-1, in a Mission League game on Tuesday.
Flintridge Sacred Heart’s record dipped to 9-3 on the season, including a 0-2 record against Mission League opponents.
The Tologs will hit the road to take on Mayfield Senior of Pasadena in a nonleague game today at 3:30 p.m. They will also compete in the Lincoln Classic Tournament at Van Nuys Fulton High this Saturday, April 22, at noon.
